For weeks they have been saying the penalty for not having healthcare is 95 dollars..Big whoop.. Except the law reads 95 dollars or 1% of your taxable income for the year. Wait! Unless you live within the poverty level you will be paying thousands for not having insurance. I know this may be a foreign concept Fox..But be fair and balanced once..
Median household income is $52,100. Then you deduct the filing threshold of $10,000 per individual, so that leaves $42,100. That makes the penalties:
2014: $421.00
2015: $842.00
2016: $1052.00
Pretty much any insurance will be more, but if you make significantly more than median income, yeah, it will be a lot more.
