I wonder if Republicans even accept the basic premise that there are some problems that are really hard to solve and may not have a nice tidy answer.

That sort of requires you to think about the problem from several angles. I’m thinking they might actually not. They may actually not accept the premise that some problems cannot be solved simply or easily.
