There was a time when Time’s Man of the Year was the person the editors judged as being the most newsworthy.

“… that features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that “for better or for worse…has done the most to influence the events of the year”

Unfortunately, it seems most people have come to consider it an award or something.

Not sure how that happened or when, or whether it was intentional by the magazine.
