He was called Barry as a child and teen, and Soetoro is his stepfather’s surname. For some reason, some people have fixed on the idea that this is his ‘real’, ‘hidden’ name.

Pretty weird. Barry is the “normal” sounding name. And Soetoro, I don’t know what that sounds like but it seems like something that some guy in Jersey might be named. Seems like Barry Soetoro wouldn’t hit their “this guy is an outsider” buttons nearly as well as Barack Obama.
