And you know what bugs me SO MUCH about that? Knowing Christians who are nothing like what “Christian” has come to mean in America today.

I’m atheist so maybe I’m not really the person to judge what is and isn’t Christianity, but, you know, MY take on the NT is that Jesus was on Earth to tell people that it’s up to us to make Earth the Kingdom of Heaven. That is, a place without hate, without war, without want, without fear. And the Christians I know see it that way and work to try to make it that way.

As a believer, all I can say is that seems obvious. Jesus is not about heaven - not about pie in the sky by the by - but about taking care of your neighbor with the understanding that everyone is your neighbor. The greatest sin I can imagine is to do nothing while waiting for an imaginary afterlife of joy instead of making someone’s life better here and now.

Ah, well there are many shades of grey in this world and only two of them are black and white.
