Hi Steve, Detroit is a whole other thing. There is rampant poverty & the City is broke too.
If you have business downtown in the Rennisance Center, they advise you to race out of the garage to the Lodge Freeway & don’t stop for anything until you get to Southfield. They need jobs.
Few in the city are capable of holding jobs; see above for it’s abyssal illiteracy rate. And the city government has made things even more attractive by imposing a $9.50 per hour minimum wage - if you also pay for full medical and other benefits. If not, the rate jumps to $14.50. So even jobs that people who can’t read might be qualified for aren’t available, because no one pays that kind of money for completely unskilled labor.
