I think there has been a major paradigm shift and people are reacting to it by trying to hold on to what ever semblence of reality they can.

There is a black man in the white house —get over it.

It’s not just the black man with an African name in the White House. The whole world has quite literally changed in the last twenty years, and the last decade has seen even more accelerated change.

Some folks are just desperately afraid of any kind of change at all, so they’ve latched on to people like Alex Jones and Ron Paul and the JBS to tell them that they’re not afraid or paranoid, they’re just aware. It’s the same ignorant populism and paranoia that fueled Ross Perot’s political run, only turned up to 11 because of the explosion in technology and the truly globalized world we live in now.
