When Newt Gingrich was Speaker of the House in the 1990s, he requested a fossil from the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum for his office, and was given one from the Smithsonian’s collections to display in his office. (Same way the National Botanical Garden provides flowers & plants for Congress)
