Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

He was doing a feature on Muslim courtship rituals, called “Beadings: the Muslim Answer to Valentine’s Day.” This was to be the third in a series designed to promote tolerance and acceptance of Islam. The first, called “Beheadings: the Muslim Answer to Free Speech” drew rave reviews from the NY Times, which lauded its producer’s “incredible courage in challenging outmoded western bigotry towards Islamic customs.” The second in the series, called “Beheadings: the Muslim Answer to Reglious Diversity,” was hailed by the Archbishop of Canterbury as “a groundbreaking work destined to promote harmony between Christians and our Muslim Overlords.”

Sophisticated viewers everywhere are hoping that Mr. Hassan’s unfortunate contretemps with local law enforcement will not interrupt plans for the final installation in the series: “Stonings: the Muslim Answer to Questions that Can’t be Answered With Beheadings.”
