You will not be able to purchase any health insurance, without paying a penalty, unless that coverage has been approved by the federal government. Not private, not public, not from another country, no coverage unless it has been approved by the federal government.

The federal government will decide what is adequate cover fro ALL POLICIES, and charge you and/or you employer a penalty if your coverage don’t meet those standards.

I think you mean plans must meet a minimum requrement of services to be included in the insurance exchange. That doesn’t mean all have to. It doesn’t mean you can’t purchace those which don’t. And it doesn’t mean you’ll pay a tax or fine if you do.

So, you have no free choice on coverage. If your coverage (of any sort) is not approved, you will pay 2.5 percent of your adjusted gross yearly salary as a fine.

Okay, so if you have coverage which only covers $1000/yr and you get cancer, what should happen? Should you be allowed to go without coverage? Should the government pick up the tab?

Your employer will pay 8.0 percent of your adjusted gross yearly salary as a fine if his coverage is not government approved or he decides NOT to offer coverage.

I believe the 8% figure is for businesses with $500,000+/yr payrole which do not provide coverage. Businesses providing coverage penny up, are you saying if a business decides not to they should just be let off?

Do you not see that this is designed to become a total control by the feds of your health care needs, with very little input from you?

Again, I see no control. I see lots of options.

I have not seen how a public insurance option will ‘conrtol my day-to-day life’, as you claimed.
