I pulled into a Shell Station off I-80 in Richmond California in the 90’s..
I pumping gas and this couple in a Caddy was there also.. He started just beating the Shit out of her.. I ran 10 feet or so to confront him and he Pulled a sawed-off Shot gun from under the seat and pointed it my face…
It was that moment when I ran inside the office that I wondered why he didn’t shoot me..I begged the girl behind the counter to call the police.. She would not do it…The Caddy drove away..I paid my bill..
Get back on the freeway…

One night when I was living in the Cascade district in Seattle a drunk couple from one of the bars got into it in the parking lot. Lots of screaming and bad noises. By the time I opened up the apartment window he was terrorizing her in the corner of my building four floors down, blood running down her face. Called 911, and made a report. Then I leaned out the window with my Marlin lever gun, cycled the action and told him it was now time to cut it the fuck out. He tried to leave but the cops got there quick. Nice guys, they didn’t say boo about the rifle.

Due to some paperwork snafu I didn’t hear anything more until six to nine months later when I got a call from the prosecutor asking if I was willing to testify. On hearing that I was the dude signed a plea bargain. Yay.
