I agree, but at the same time reasonable people can say they don’t accept the notion of “queers”, gay marriage, abortion.

If you are a devout Christian, I can see you having trouble with gays and gay marriage. I can see you having trouble with abortion.

Reasonable people can disagree on these points, and as long as one is not hysterical, I think it’s pretty tough to find accommodation on them.

If you are pro choice, and I am pro life-there are not too many gray areas in between. Pro-gay marriage, anti-gay marriage, where is the compromise?

Pittrader I agee with you that people have a right to their opinions and Plumber Joe absolutely has a right to speak them. But we’re just talking right and wrong here. I’m not sure I agree with gay marriage because it blurs things and could open the door for more bizarre unions that could merely represent an abuse of the institution.

But he clearly implied gays are abnormal people and can’t be trusted around children. Based on what? All the science says these people can’t help their sexual orientation which is obviously a complicated thing. It may be due to development or genetics or both. But there’s no data that says a disproportionate number of gays are pedophiles that I’m aware of. Gays are 10% of any population so if I can’t believe there are that many deviant pervs out there in addition to all the hetero pervs lurking out there too. I’d never let my kids out to ride their bikes if there were.

Anyway that’s my beef. It just seems like an unnecessary slur and undermines his attempt to appear tolerant.
