re: #321 Obdicut

In terms of the financial doings of this particular cult, it is similar to Scientology; it has a lot of front organizations set up, many of which mask themselves as professional organizations with little connection to the main group, who’s purpose is to solicit money and new recruits. So far, the group has managed to avoid tax prosecution, as well.

I completely agree that Scientology’s reach and power far outstrip this cult, and any other cult on earth. However, as you can see from the article, people who have been ensnared by this cult have also become destitute— they use tactics of ratcheting entrapment just as Scientology does.

So, in scale, they’re nowhere similar to Scientology, but in day-to-day tactics they’re similar; it might even be that this group is consciously aping Scientology’s successful formula for cult.

You just documented the modus operandi of many groups, whether religious, political or even exclusive social groups.

My only concern with your statement, and this article, is that a person would not think that S$cientology, in scale, is not much different than this group (or similar groups).

S$cientology is on a scale of it’s own. And I would love to see this country take the same lead as have been seen in Germany and France and make an attempt to actually outlaw S$cientology. It is not a religion, it is a mafia-styled international crime organization in the guise of a religion.

Thanks for you response. See, we can agree on some things.
