The GOP thinks that the short term cuts will offset/mask the long term hikes. Or that the deficits caused by their scheme will simply mean that they get to impose draconian cuts to spending (that they’ve been ogling for decades).

Of course they do - democrats will be in power when the long term increases hit - and I can hear the GOPers now - screaming to their supporters how the democrats are raising their taxes - taking away their medicare etc etc
