re: #326 prononymous

It was a trick question that he was obviously trying to avoid. The answer is that the only congressmen that are publicly declared atheists are Democrats, IIRC.

re: #314 Walter L. Newton

I took it to mean that we can’t tell what someone is thinking. Therefore we have to determine the quality of these politicians by their actions. The actions of Republicans has been to introduce a lot of religious laws about creationism, anti-abortion, etc. That’s the “fruit” of their labors. So if I am to judge people by their fruit, I judge them rotten.

Wow, sorry, can we start again please?
I was not discussing anything Walter was saying.

You had stated the following:
Do you honestly think a republican, or democrat, could step up right now and say “I’m an atheist/agnostic” and expect to still have a chance at getting elected?

Honestly, I justed wanted to know whether in the USA today, is it really true that no one could get re elected if they said they were atheist or agnostic.

If the feeling is that its true, I would be surprised, I still believed it to be a fringe majority that would vote based on extreme religious beliefs.

You brought it up so I was asking your view.
If you don’t want to share your view thats ok too.
