And the bigger issue is that we have people who are going on the record with votes that should be pure political suicide.

Either they care more about erasing everything after the New Deal—and preferably it as well—and making sure it takes a constitutional amendment to reinstate than they do about staying in politics; or (and I find this a lot more likely!) they know that by 2018 and certainly by 2020, with the VRA dead, their districts will be imposing poll taxes and literacy/knowledge tests that only likely R voters will be allowed to pass.
