Agreed. For all of the acreage that the media gives every last hopeless shitbird who’s thrown his or her hat into the ring on the Republican side, stinting Bernie is bullshit.

This is a far cry from when Perot raised his grizzled head. I thought that he was a crank from the beginning. The media chose to give him a great ride.

His running mate, VIce Admiral James Stockdale, earned a permanent place in my esteem with his words, “Who am I? Why am I here?” at the opening of the vice presidential debate.

The way the media treated Stockdale was really the last straw for me. He was an incredible man, a courageous, unbreakable POW in Vietnam, and brilliant. The media, in their lazy asshole way, chose to make fun of him and belittle him, and I have never gotten over it.

The book “In Love and War,” written by him and his wife about his POW experience and her work on the homefront to help POWs and their families, is worth the read.
