I mean, consider that “black African” is a meaningless construct, genetically. The population of Subsaharan Africa has more diversity on a genetic level than other regions. In the modern age, to maintain that there is a uniform “black” such that skin color correlates with other traits (that racist attribute to race) requires ignoring that basic fact.
…and they do, because they need the concept of a uniform blackness to contrast themselves with.
It took me some time to explain to my grandmother and mom that South America is a very diverse region. They weren’t being bigoted. They were just unaware of how many different groups have called South America home over the centuries.
