I have no desire to keep up a karma %, but I have noticed some down-dings on my posts after the fact by people who were not commenting at the time and who I don’t even recognize, which I thought was a no-no.

I’m not sure what the problem is with that. Downdinging is a part of the policing process if people are not employing good judgment in their posts or are exhibiting bad behavior. It can be done in a polite way -it doesn’t have to be seen as an attack on the downdinged. If it is someone who has a vendetta, fair game for being derided for their dinging. But someone who does not post often has every right to disagree with me. If they choose to tell me why, fine. If not, that’s okay too, they either disagree with me or just don’t like me.

And also, one of the great things about the ding system is that it allows people who can’t or shouldn’t post from work to still have some kind of say in the conversation without tripping the sensors at their job. At least that’s the way I see it. Which reminds me…what am I doing posting?
