The tech is there, but the NIMBYism is omnipresent, and municipalities are taking to zoning rules to limit/prohibit their installation on any number of grounds (noise, setbacks, proximity to schools/residences, etc.) Also, not all parts of the country are where wind blows consistently to make it feasible. The situation is even more limiting for solar - there’s some parts of the country where solar would have a more profound effect than others, based on distance to equator, prevailing weather patterns, etc.
