My response to that would have been… all the lesser teams in the AFC west (Denver, Oakland, KC) face those very same teams. So it really boils down to inter-conference match-ups and I think the Chargers win that one.

That I agree with. The real surprise for the AFC West in week 1 was the way Buffalo thrashed the Chief. Roy Fitzpatrick owned the air with 4 TD passes and the Chiefs’ offense went nowhere. If they don’t step up their game, the Chiefs will be a joke this season.
