The penalty for most visa violtions is a misdemeanor. Calling them ‘illegal aliens’ makes about as much sense as calling someone an ‘illegal driver’ because they speed. Using that illegality as a grounds to say that they have entrenched cultural disregard for the law is also too extreme. The law they are breaking in many cases is overstaying a visa, or working while having a student visa. They’re not kicking puppies across the border.
