There was an interview on the NPR/BBC news thing yesterday about a British organization that wants to abolish the monarchy. He put it nicer but his reason was basically ‘it makes us look like backwards retards’.

I never understood why the Monarchy was not privatised (with an “s” as they are British) along with the rest of the country’s infrastructure.

British Royal plc: I think it would be a great idea. it would help keep them in line - if they behave like arrogant philandering dicks, then nobody will hire them for gala appearances or supermarket openings.

And every British Royal (TM) wedding would be a source of revenue enough to keep them in the black until the next Royal Baby (TM) is born.
