10.5 runs on PPC and is usually faster than 10.4 on equal hardware IME. Your machine may or may not be supported (which one is it?) but I have 10.5.8 running on my son’s 1.67ghz 15” PowerBook G4.

I’ve got a 1.5 ghz running on a Mac Mini.
