re: #301 J.S.

CNN was just providing a history of Fort Hood and some of the recent problems experienced with returning soldiers (there has been an extremely high incidence of suicides at the base, etc.)

Maybe going to war without sufficient manpower and putting the country on a military footing is not a good idea? Maybe fighting wars under the Marquess of Queensbury rules is also not a good idea. We’ve really overused a lot of our troops with insufficient mental and physical health support, and while a lot of people were making a lot of money during 2003-2008, we had a considerable # of soldiers dying and being maimed for a country otherwise on a peacetime footing. See Vietnam. If you can’t convince your country to sacrifice for a war, then it better be a very quick one.
