It was a homage. Farscape (and SG-1 to a degree) have plenty of homages to other movies and entertainment references, including sci-fi and other genres.

One of the classic SG-1 episodes revolves around a script being pitched about a fictional sci-fi show that would contain elements of SG-1, and they included Farscape, Star Trek, Star Wars, and a litany of other shows.
