The Obama’s biggest supporters were the teachers unions. Chicago, where his Sec of Ed is from,has an abysmal dropout rate, not to mention literacy.Solution, throw more money at it, 0 accountability.

Our small middle class town in CT is one of the few I know of here which routinely denies the school budget as presented.We have decent results. Amazing what can be achieved with supervision and self restraint.

I love teachers. My wife’s mother and all our friends were teachers in the LAUSD. Most of them retired early out of disgust for how things had deteriorated.
You are correct - it is the unions that are the enemy. They siphon off all the money and then disingenuously keep coming back telling us we need to ‘support the children’.
They don’t give a rat’s ass about the children……
Another interesting comparison was a study done several years ago comparing the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Chicago Public schools. In all the compared categories…academic results, graduation rates, go to college rates, the Archdiocese cleaned the public schools clocks. But the most interesting comparison was in the area of Administrators. The Archdiocese had 33 (as in thirty three) while Chicago Public had over 30,000 as I recall.
Bottom line is we need to get rid of those fat bloated bureaucracies and focus on the kids….and the teachers. I don’t begrudge paying them…hell they need big raises. I begrudge paying the unions and then being constantly told that I’m miserly…….
