re: #325 marjoriemoon

This was womengamers.com and it was up for a long time, 11 years, but you’re basically right. It’s hard for gals.

She should practice being herself though and trying not to be intimidated or grossed out (heh). Well, it’s hard for kids. The other day, my hubby was playing in a dungeon (he’s 45 btw) and he wasn’t used to his warrior in a group. To make a long story short, he didn’t protect the priest (I know!!!) and they ended up kicking him out of the group and called him… ready? “You’re so FUCKING GAY.” He was so pissed, he didn’t go on with that character for weeks.

Ah - misunderstanding (for you and others) from me not being clear. I’m oldish (see other posts this thread about remembering watching Red Skelton) and my daughter’s well into college, and we’ve been playing various games for a long time. MMOs are better than a lot of various pickup games have been over the years, and if you stick to only playing with people you know (good guildies) you’re even more protected.

But if you like to PUG, or you’re in a system with regional grouping (warhammer online, or rifts) you still see a lot of this crap directed at women if you’re bothering to pay attention.
