Apparently, if one is deeply motivated by a sufficiently righteous cause, one can make conscious gestures of defiance, even though one is unconscious.

This must explain those Palestinian demonstrations where they carry a coffin through the streets, mourning the loss of a child killed by the Israelis, when suddenly they drop the coffin, and the corpse falls out, stands up, and gets back into the coffin. If you’ve been as deeply wronged as the Palestinians, you can continue to demonstrate even after you’re dead.
