Ridiculous Propaganda Photo of the Day

Images • Views: 6,264

Every year, when the Palestinian whinefest known as “Nakba” rolls around, the wire services dutifully publish photo after photo of Palestinians holding keys, “symbolizing” the loss of their houses in 1948 when the state of Israel was established.

But this year we have the most ridiculous example yet — an obviously staged picture purportedly showing a man “passed out” from tear gas, right next to a dramatic barbed wire fence, holding his right hand in the air in a dramatic fist, and shoving a dramatic Nakba key directly into the lens of the camera.

The Associated Press proves once again that there’s no Palestinian propaganda too crude for them to print.

A Palestinian passed out from tear gas fired by Israeli troops, holds a key symbolizing the keys to houses left by Palestinians in 1948, during a demonstration marking the 61st anniversary of “Nakba,” Arabic for catastrophe, in the West Bank village Bilin, near Ramallah, Friday, May 15, 2008.

You happy to piss away your credibility AP?

I'm pretty sure tear gas doesn't make people lose consciousness, either.

Also missing is the fact that those residents left their homes at the request of the Grand Mufti and others in order to clear the way for the Arab Army attacks intended to destroy Israel......why don't they ask the Jordanians, Syrians, and Egyptians for citizenship and replacement homes?

But then, the AP is as clueless as it gets when it comes to promoting propaganda and political agendas as opposed to reporting facts as 'news'. News would be the end of the Arab nations using the 'Palestinians' as fodder to hide their own failures, corruption, and ineptitude.

Apparently, if one is deeply motivated by a sufficiently righteous cause, one can make conscious gestures of defiance, even though one is unconscious.

This must explain those Palestinian demonstrations where they carry a coffin through the streets, mourning the loss of a child killed by the Israelis, when suddenly they drop the coffin, and the corpse falls out, stands up, and gets back into the coffin. If you've been as deeply wronged as the Palestinians, you can continue to demonstrate even after you're dead.

68 Sand Panda  Sun, May 17, 2009 10:28:26am

According to Professor Google:

"People exposed to tear gas may experience some or all of the following symptoms immediately after exposure:

Eyes: excessive tearing, burning, blurred vision, redness
Nose: runny nose, burning, swelling
Mouth: burning, irritation, difficulty swallowing, drooling
Lungs: chest tightness, coughing, choking sensation, wheezing, shortness of breath
Skin: burns, rash
Other: nausea, vomiting

Long-lasting exposure (over an hour) or exposure to a large dose of tear gas, especially in an enclosed setting, may cause severe effects such as:

Blindness
Glaucoma
Death due to serious chemical burns to the throat and lungs
Respiratory failure possibly resulting in death

The deadly effects of tear gas would only occur following exposure to a dosage several hundred times greater than the amount of tear gas typically used by law enforcement officials for crowd control.

I don't know if they still do this now, but back in the '70's, when I went through Navy boot camp, they stuck us in a building we were supposed to put a fire out in and handed us a water hose ("Prepare to gooseneck! Gooseneck!"), and then released some tear gas in there to see how we functioned under adverse conditions.

That shit was waaay worse than onions - but we DID hang together as a team, and put out the fire.

One would think that in all that time, they could have built some new and perhaps even better houses.

109 FurryOldGuyJeans  Sun, May 17, 2009 10:36:22am

re: #105 Salamantis

I don't know if they still do this now, but back in the '70's, when I went through Navy boot camp, they stuck us in a building we were supposed to put a fire out in and handed us a water hose ("Prepare to gooseneck! Gooseneck!"), and then released some tear gas in there to see how we functioned under adverse conditions.

That shit was waaay worse than onions - but we DID hang together as a team, and put out the fire.

It was still happening at Great Mistakes back in '83, but only gas. Fire fighting had become a no-no.

111 slartybartfast  Sun, May 17, 2009 10:36:43am

1948, eh?

The Arab leaders had openly declared that their purpose was to drive the Jewish population in the sea, to annihilate them...[But when faced with defeat] They fully expected that the fate they had promised the Jewish population would be meted out to them. In every case, their leaders abandoned them and were the first to flee, advising the population to follow them and promising them that they would return after the invasion of Palestine with the victorious Arab armies; then, they would not only regain their homes but participate in the looting of the Jewish property that would ensue.

Didn't quite work out that way, did it?

A Palestinian runs away to avoid tear gas and stun grenades fired by Israeli border police, while holds a key symbolizing the keys to houses left by Palestinians in 1948, during a demonstration marking the 61st anniversary of "Nakba," Arabic for catastrophe, in the West Bank village Bilin, near Ramallah, Friday, May 15, 2008. The rally marked the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who either fled or were driven out of their homes during the 1948 war over Israel's creation.

And, how did the "West Bank" come to be occupied by Israel? In truth, if Jordan had stayed out of the war in 1967 (as requested by Israel), that land would still belong to them. But, Jordan decided to shell Tel Aviv thinking they might share in an Egyptian victory...

Didn't work out at all. Frankly I think the Palestinian's are a hopeless case. One of the greater ironies is that despite their protestations they are possibly the most free people in the Arab world with the ability to protest and voice their opposition to the controlling states. If these numbskulls ever succeeded in getting their own state they would no doubt lose those freedoms and end up living in yet another totalitarian Arab state.

Funny. I was just looking at that photo minutes ago. Those weirdos. Looks at the kids face. It reeks of indoctrination. 7 years old going on 67. There another photo of some old woman holding up a machine gun.

Business as usual.

I think the number of deniers has increased very recently. It was 28% three years ago.

re: #181 pegcity

so everyone in ancient Palestine had the same house key? cause if thats the case why did they bother having locks.

Actually, this is the first time I've ever seen the word "Symbolic" appear in these captions. I swear last year they made sure they had some old lady holding them saying they were keys to HER house.

Does anyone have a collection of all the Key pictures over the years?

Their Arab brethren who care so much about them, like the pantywaist little King of Jordan, would rather keep them in squalid refugee camps in order to use as rabid attack dogs against the Juice.

That's why the Arafish ended up in Gaza -- he'd been given the bum's rush out of every other country in the ME. Nobody wanted him.

Well, nobody except the UN. And Jimmeh.

Another key-holder.

That key sure gets around.

Notice the "Certificate of Registration" (In English no less!) appears to be blank.

Because the Jordanians, et al. cannot stand them!

220 mashiki  Sun, May 17, 2009 1:13:52pm

Maybe one of these days they'll actually use a ward-lock key instead of such obvious fakes. Then again its the obvious fakes that make the photo's look so good isn't it?

221 Nemesis6  Sun, May 17, 2009 1:55:52pm

If wonder if they're getting these keys from somewhere. You know, like the Palestinians get Israeli and Americans flags from a smart Israeli business-man who capitalized on this opportunity.

222 uptight  Sun, May 17, 2009 1:56:51pm

Ridiculous indeed, Charles.

Here is the original photo, before the Palestinian propaganda masters got to it.

You can quite clearly see that, instead of clutching a key, the erstatz casualty is clutching a Hello Kitty Shoulder "massager", designed to fit in the handbag of any Japanese schoolgirl with the minimum of embarrassment.

223 hawk  Sun, May 17, 2009 2:08:15pm

Or maybe they forgot to photoshop that in :)

Maybe the photo is staged and filled to the top with pure grade-A cheese, but it is not propaganda to say that the Palestinians have gotten the short end of the stick for the last 100 years.

Really? "For the last 100 years?" Who was giving them "the short end of the stick" before 1948?

230 Morganfrost  Sun, May 17, 2009 5:31:59pm

Must be some kind of special tear gas, the clouds of which are only visible to Palestinians and AP stringers.

A pity they never bothered to do anything about it, then, except
elect more of them the minute they got the chance.

If the Jews were to hold in front of a camera all the keys to the homes we lost starting with the imperialist occupation of the kingdoms of Israel and Judea by Assyria and then Babylonia and Persia and Greece, to our devastation by the Roman empire, the Arab Empire conquest starting with the ethnic cleansing of the Jews of Saudi Arabia, the conquest of North Africa (where the Berber resistance to the Arab-Muslim Imperialist invading forces was led by their legendary Jewish female leader Al Kahina) and so on, until the 20th century where about 850,000 Jews left/were forced out of Arab countries they've been living in for centuries or millennia before the Arab invasion (and then under the Muslim rule mostly as unequal citizens or non-citizen), the Jewish home and property loss in these countries, as well as Jewish land bought and paid for in Judea & Samaria, the Golan and what is today Jordan, Plus, of course, all the discrimination, persecution and expulsions during the ages from both Europe and the Middle East that left the Jews no alternative but to leave, leaving their homes and possessions behind, I say we'll need one more state just to store all these Jewish "symbolic" keys. We could have build a ladder from all these keys that will get to the Moon.

One assumes this is sarcasm. After all, what better way to have a permanent attack on the Jews by keeping these people as a constant open wound?

Let's be honest. If the UN had simply gone to every Palestinian family in 1948 and said "Okay, line up here in an hour...okay, you get a deli in Dearborn, next! Ah, we've got a dry-cleaner in Melbourne for you - it's in Australia, you'll love it. That you Ahmed? Yeah, you get a newsstand in Kings Cross...everyone on the bus!" they (that is, all of us that fund that carbuncle on the world's scrotum that is the UN) would have spent barely a tiny fraction of what they've spent in the subsequent sixty years carefully ensuring that no one ever does anything useful and permanent for the Palestinian people.

I think it's even worse--I think it was meant to look like his hand was hanging on the barbed wire.

Really? "For the last 100 years?" Who was giving them "the short end of the stick" before 1948?

Actually, it's probably been the last 63 years.

The Islamic year is lunar with no correction. So every they lose 11 days for every solar year. The reason it's 61 years, is because they adopt May 14 as the date of Naqba for Western consumption. If they were celebrating the 63rd Naqba this past March, it would likely be dismissed.

Interesting article about the real origin of Nakba.
