I’m slightly curious why it was this one incident that is bringing him down.

The best I got is that he attacked a specific person, which makes his attacks less abstract, combined with his insinuation about those women in the nation who are taking Birth Control. That meant many people could see themselves or their loved ones in Fluke. And people get more riled up against Rush then before because it’s personal.
