Through detailed DNA analysis of samples from the French and Spanish Basque regions, the Genographic team found that Basques share unique genetic patterns that distinguish them from the surrounding non-Basque populations.

My favorite dive bar in the town I attended college was called Fat Tuesday. Became my haunt on Friday nights. Anyhow sucks about Peyton but I think the Luck era will be a fun one for Colts fans but it’s always tough to say good bye especially to a legend like Manning.

So far as I know, no, they don’t make a distinction on sapience/sentience of animals in what they protest. But then again I don’t think weighed consideration is part of their milieu. The “companion animal” versus “pet” distinction is really flimsy, and largely euphemism. PETA is mostly about sensationalism and funding the next ad campaign; they’re one of those groups where the disbursement of funds doesn’t in the slightest bit match the mission statement.
I personally don’t like the ideas of the big whales in captivity—there’s studies of the standing stress levels and a bunch of other stuff that bother me. But the whole “slavery” thing gets my back up.

Employers and colleges find the treasure-trove of personal information hiding behind password-protected accounts and privacy walls just too tempting, and some are demanding full access from job applicants and student athletes.
In Maryland, job seekers applying to the state’s Department of Corrections have been asked during interviews to log into their accounts and let an interviewer watch while the potential employee clicks through wall posts, friends, photos and anything else that might be found behind the privacy wall.
Previously, applicants were asked to surrender their user name and password, but a complaint from the ACLU stopped that practice last year.

I think the current GOP candidate campaign has raised sensitivity in general. This makes Rush’s rants more topical, but also raised the risk that a push over the top would generate more massive pushback than it normally like.
And combined with the personal-ness of the attack it might have struck a
chord with a lot of people who feel their rights (and those of their loved ones) are under an increasingly large assault.

That and when you actually watch her testimony, you quickly realize just how dishonest Rush is being. She never once mentions her sex life, or anyone’s sex life. Her testimony was limited to insurance coverage for contraception and she points out that women take birth control pills for more than just avoiding pregnancy.
His lies are immediately obvious to anyone who cares to look. Plus, we’re in a very tech-savvy age where social media plays a big part. It’s real easy to tweet and share and post on Facebook, so it’s real easy for people to express their outrage and mobilize to defend Sandra Fluke.

I think it’s an intersection of factors—an important one being the one you pointed out.
But he also went to a new low in term of direct crassness, and gave himself no maneuver room to claim absurdity or satire.
Also, Rush’s schtick often involves exploiting ignorance—where he gets to control the narrative…by lies and exaggeration…of what his target said/did, so that his insults are framed properly. So not only do ditto-heads feel justified in agreeing, but reasonable people aren’t in a position to contradict him. This was the case with a lot of his “political correctness gone mad” rants in the 90s/00s: the original story would be incredibly obscure, so his version would be the only one circulating.
This time he told an obvious lie about Fluke’s testimony and followed up with an outpouring of hate. There’s no way no to retroactively claim a mistake or that he was being clever: the lie was obvious, which makes the scale of his reaction seem either pathological or insincere (or both).

That and when you actually watch her testimony, you quickly realize just how dishonest Rush is being. She never once mentions her sex life, or anyone’s sex life. Her testimony was limited to insurance coverage for contraception and she points out that women take birth control pills for more than just avoiding pregnancy.

do Mosquitos really have a necessary purpose in the Ecosystem. I wouldn’t mind if we eradicated all of them. They carry other illness besides Malaria and they are Pesty.
If we can’t get rid of the GOP nominees, can we at least get rid of mosquitos?
Bass, Trout and other freshwater fish feed heavily on larval mosquitos. There’s no way to get rid of them without decimating this primary food source and pissing off a lot of anglers like me.

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul remained defiant Tuesday evening in the face of no primary wins, rallying his fervent supporters to his pet causes of civil liberties and an overhaul of the country’s monetary system.
He gave no definitive statement of how long he’d continue his struggling campaign. But he told supporters here that his campaign has sent a clear warning message to voters that government grows endlessly, ignores personal privacy and spends too much money.
“If we set a standard of individual liberty, the rest of the world will notice,” Paul told supporters amid loud cheers. “It’s much easier to promote our cause through peaceful deeds than through war.”
Earlier Tuesday, Paul urged voters in Idaho to caucus for him on the promise of a smaller federal government, $1 trillion in federal spending cuts and an administration dedicated to liberty.
Paul said he chose to spend Super Tuesday in Idaho because it’s one of the states where poll numbers show his campaign is strongest.

As advertisers continue to bail from “The Rush Limbaugh Show” after the host called a law student a “slut” and “prostitute,” the superPAC supporting GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has essentially doubled down.
Gingrich himself has denounced Limbaugh’s remarks, but it hasn’t cooled the pro-Gingrich group Winning Our Future.
“Actually, we bought more,” Rick Tyler, a senior adviser for Winning Our Future, tells NPR. Tyler says the superPAC expanded its media buy for pro-Gingrich spots on the show because the conservative talk host “reaches more listeners who are likely primary voters in all the states than anybody else.”
Tyler declined to say how much was spent on the ads, but says they are a “big part” of a national media buy in Super Tuesday states. He says the ads will continue to run in such states as Kansas, Alabama and Mississippi, which hold their primaries next week.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how Santorum and Gingrich’s supporters deal with having to back Romney if he holds on to get the nomination. Obviously, their own candidates are terrible, but at the same time they know Romney is a blatant fraud who is only winning because he has more money (and I guess because the Governor of Texas can’t remember more than two things at once).
