I had fun driving to Algarve in southern Portugal as well. My spoken Portuguese is a little rough (since I hadn’t used it since I was seventeen) but I managed.

I think they understood I wouldn’t speak English since it’s not taught in most schools. Plus most of them know it anyhow even the older people. I really loved the people in Portugal. So friendly. I’d love to see the friends on the staff I met at teh hostel I stayed at again.
