Sorry that you had to deal with the “creeping death” of your various tech devices.
It sounds like you do what I do. When one device stops working, go to the pile of older devices and pick up a different one.
And it sounds like Belafon was correct, then. That the problem was a non Microsoft software update. Possibly a browser?

home page google was fine. even the searching worked. but none of the links.
and on the phones, i couldnt get some individual apps to connect - some did, some didnt
there was a lot of swearing here last week
