How It's Done

The first snow in the area always sees more than their share of accidents because people seem to forget that snow/ice is slippery and because you have 4 wheel drive doesn’t mean you have 4 wheel brakes. People drive too fast for the conditions and that’s when bad things happen.

The roads at the height of the storm yesterday were pretty bad, but by this AM, they were mostly clear (some wet/icy bits though).

This even happens in Anchorage Alaska BTW, where people drive on snow/Ice for about seven months of each year. The first major snowfall in Anchorage turns the roads into a giant game of bumper cars, it never fails. It as if almost everyone forgets that snow is slippery and they need to slow down and leave more following room.

I would drive around laughing at the spectacle as people slid out into the middle of intersections, chain reaction rear enders occurred at red lights, and people slid off roadways left and right. The body shop business up there is one of the major industries because by the end of each winter they will have repaired roughly 15% of all the cars in the city.

And it happens all over again every single year!
