Gone, but never forgotten

It’s been a difficult week in Cyborg land.

In the past seven days we’ve had to say goodbye to not one, but two of our beloved furry friends.

If you can believe it, we lost our Feline overlord Callie last Tuesday and then, two days later our beloved Basset Hound Molly.

Callie was only 4 and My wife and I had to make the extremely difficult decision to let her go because we could not afford the nearly $1000 for a treatment plan. I believe and always will believe that had we been able to, she would have pulled through. This was cat was tough. Quirky, annoying sometimes, impossibly affectionate at others, but always tough.

Molly was not unexpected, she was 10. Older age for a Basset and her health had declined in recent years. Still, two in three days is a lot for the heart to bear.

I haven’t really had time to process it yet I have been so busy with work and housework and church obligations and who knows what else. But at this time of night, with the house so quiet, I can’t help but notice.

At least we have one left. A relatively healthy two and half year old little yapper named Riley. I sincerely hope he’ll be around awhile.

On top of everything else, on the day we lost callie, the alternator in my car also decided to call it quits. Auto Zone quoted me $230 for a replacement but I managed to find a used one for $40 at a local parts place and a mechanic neighbor was nice enough to install it for me.

So at least one good thing happened last week.
