As lawhawk has noted time and again, this have nothing to do with “disrespect” shown to the NYPD and everything to do with their trying to twist De Blasio’s arm at the bargaining table over pay raises. Trying to convince him that, to get in their good graces and call off the dogs, he has to be willing to agree to whatever terms they name.

In other words, legalized extortion.
