WindHorse, I will say up front, I only know of this by way of what you posted.

Therefore, if he is the Spanish Teacher, it could truly be a way for him to make a connection, teaching Spanish by way of something already familiar to the students.

A novelty if you will.

I would say more important, (as a parent of 3 kids in school) is if he actually believes in what that pledge means, and conveys this sentiment to the kids, and can actually have them understand it in a way that I feel about it.

My dad is first generation Italian. His father got off the boat in 1898, leaving San Fele behind for America. They spoke Italian in the house, but made sure his kids were American, knew the language, assimilated, and kept their heritage in the process.

I would ask myself this question.

What does this teacher think about the Pledge he is asking them to recite in Spanish?

If you do not know the answer, ask him yourself. You pay his salary, I think it is a fair question.

You’ll never know, you just might surprise yourself.
