That was the Plymouth Symphonia, an ensemble of retired Royal Navy musicians in the south of England who’d did that as a larf. It takes a skilled group of musicians to fuck up a piece of music that bad. I first heard it maybe 15 years ago in a compilation tape that included Enzio Pinza (or maybe James Pease doing a spot-on imitation, hard to determine the provenance) belting out “I Shit More in the Summertime Than Any Other Time of the Year”.
