Even in the Russian Far East, people eschew Russian-built Japanese vehicles in favor of cheaper second-hand Japanese imports from across the Sea of Japan. They also feel that the second-hand imports are better than the locally produced models, and tend to be maintained better due to Japan’s strict shaken laws. Right hand drive be damned, they’ll still go crazy over Japanese grey-market vehicles and can’t blame them. I’d trust a Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser in the brutal winters than a garbage Lada.
