“It must be safe or the authorities wouldn’t let ‘em do it!” appears to be the fatal assumption. In fact the authorities are scared spitless of the gun humper lobby which, in turn, is actually crazy enough to fight any legislation that might attempt to keep machine guns away from children.

Would that be the gun humper lobby that is mysteriously silent all of a sudden?

One thing for sure. The NRA’s creative writing department must be having a tough time coming up with the proper response. That would be if there is a proper response.

Every national debate seems to turn on a one or two incidents that change a lot of minds. Are we seeing this Uzi/9-year-old the turning point in the gun debate?
