Replacing a sitting president inevitably damages the democratic process. Replacing him with theocratic Pence could be a longer-term nightmare.

And then we’re still left with the process and the electorate that made Trump possible.

Then why does the Constitution make provisions for doing exactly that? Like it or not, Pence was also elected, and by law he’s the replacement if Trump should go. Pence at least would have some idea of how stuff works.

Our democratic process was damaged during the campaign and the election. We can’t go back and fix that damage, but we can sure fix one result of the damage. Trump is an embarrassment, and he will damage our standing in the world for decades if he is not removed from office soon.
