OK, IANAEngineer, but don’t “drainage tunnels” need someplace to drain TO? The Houston area is uniformly described as “low-lying” - Wikipedia gives its “altitude” as “80 feet” - not a lot of elevation, and in what was, primevally, a flattish wetland - how are these tunnels supposed to serious help with volumes of water measured in cubic fucking miles dropped in a couple of days.

I like and admire Elon Musk, but I don’t think he’s a civil engineer, either: I think he hit the “send” button a little too quickly this time.
