The official stated that in view of the new developments in Libya and materialization of one of the main wishes of the Libyan people there will be no other pretext for continuation of intervention by foreign forces in Libya.

“It is necessary that with immediate exit of foreign troops from Libya, the Libyan people will find the opportunity to decide about their own fate in an atmosphere free from any foreign intervention,” he said.

It makes sense from a strategic/diplomatic standpoint. The new Libyan government is going to be at least somewhat friendly with the West for a while. It makes sense that Iran would want to make nice with the new government.
