Correct. And one part of her job will be to consider plea agreements for her client that minimize the unpleasantness which is inevitably going to land in what’s left of his lap in exchange for his never-ending cooperation and provision of information. ‘Cause at the end of the day, that’s what’s gonna happen in this case. It’s a slam dunk, he’s as good as convicted already, and the defense’s job is going to be to see whether she can arrange for the guards to clue him in as to which direction Mecca is in. Or not.

Basically. This guy ain’t-a never gettin’ off. But it irks me to hear people bitch about the ‘ACLU’-type lawyers defending this guy. Being a Federally-appointed defense lawyer is a perfectly respectable and necessary role, one that would have to be played regardless of where we tried this guy.
