Wouldn’t surprise me either but I can tell you from experience that there a lot of young people who buy the right wing bullshit hook, line, and sinker.

I’ve met a lot of those “Young Republicans.” Hell, I was one for a time. And, when you get down to it, the underlying theme to their belief system is greed, either “I’ve got mine!” or “Poor people are keeping me from getting mine!”
