Several years before Arlo, I had my great encounter with an Army psychiatrist at the Whitehall examining Station.

Corporal with clipboard: “The following go down the hall to see The Shrink.”

Overweight, Chainsmoking Shrink: “It says on your health history form that you have trouble sleeping. Why’s that?>”

Me: “Yes. I worry a lot.”

OCS: “Yeah, it says that too. What are you worried about?”

Me: “Getting drafted.”

OCS: “Get the fuck out of here, kid.”
