WHAT? ! You have not read every word ever written by Hitchens?! I’m flabbergasted! (just joking. Isn’t silence, though, akin to tolerance? Or one just ignores the annoying? I was reading Ezra Levant’s musings on Hate Speech (the criminal variety), and it was about Canada’s first person successfully charged with the crime of Hate Speech…It was a German antisemite. At first he’d mimeograph nasty things, climb up onto the roofs of tall buildings, and distribute the material…that didn’t get much of a response…so, then, years later, the telephone answering machine came along — lol — he made up recordings, then passed around business cards…for people to phone in to listen to the “sayings.” That’s what got him charged…someone phoned his antisemitic hot line 20-30 times (?), then phoned the cops…the question then becomes, if the messages were so offensive, why phone over and over and over again?)
