If you are feeling less accommodating next time, you could ask him why. Why, exactly, should celebs shut up about politics? Assuming that the answer is some variation of “we pay them to act/sing” etc. you can ask him: “And what do we pay YOU for? We don’t pay you for political analysis, so maybe you ought to shut up about politics too.”
It is weird and stupid, this idea some people have that if you are good enough at something to be really well-known for it, you aren’t allowed to talk about politics.
