With my wingnut friend, literally overnight he started posting wingnut memes. To be honest, anyone else, I’d probably consider defriending but the two of us have known each other since we were kids and he is a legitimately good friend but I hate what he’s become on politics. He doesn’t post Nazi RTs or shit like that but some stupid dishonest crap.

I’ve mostly purged my Facebook friends list of wingnuts. I’ve kept a number of friends who are Republicans or Christians who don’t post obnoxious stuff. I’ve kept at least one libertarian who is a genuinely fun person to be around. I’ve kept one conservative trucker/gun nut who vehemently hates racism (and all other isms) and periodically posts stories about him humiliating truck stop racists.

The person I blocked on Twitter was someone I’d friended a few years ago when I first joined Facebook and who’d dropped me ages ago. I worry plenty that a lot of people I went to college or high school with have probably gone over to the Nazi side. It’s a big reason why I never go to class reunions — Generation X turned out to be the most wingnutty generation. :(
